recompiling the kernel
seebq just recompiled his kernel…
Yes, I have joined the uber-l33t ranks of geekiness and I recompiled my linux kernel just a few short minutes ago.
After I recompiled my kernel, I rebuilt the NVIDIA nvnet rpm for my specific kernel and now the network drivers work. I then loaded the newly built module, and I am on the internet! This was my first order of business, once bringing my uber-l33t new computer on-line with an upgraded mandrake linux distro. I could be one of the first people to have the new nvnet drivers working on the newest kernel, since I couldn’t find it anywhere, but maybe not.
Wow, I am so l33t!
I am now running 2.4.22-21mdk (yes, It’s mandrake), and yes, I technically didn’t recompile the kernel so much as installed the rpm, but I had it it verbose mode, so I saw it all going down….
Sorry for the techno-babble, I just had to tell someone, and well, you all, my loyal weblog fans, will just have to deal with it.
over and out from super-l33t-dom,
