Scout Launches

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Down at Highgroove Studios, we’ve finally lifted the wraps off Scout, our simple solution to server monitoring and reporting.

It’s true, we’ve been using Scout internally now for months, and it has proven its usefulness time and time again. We’ve also been collecting meticulous feedback from our pre-launch users. We hope it saves our customers as much time as it has saved us.

David Peterson Artwork

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Jodi and I attended our good friend Ben Krause’s gallery showing last Friday - a solo exhibition by another good friend of ours, a talented artist named David Peterson.

I’ve known David for a little while, and always loved his work. I take that back: I friggin’ love this guy and his work. Another disclaimer: we commissioned him to do a large piece for our home. I have watched his work over the past years, and I was looking forward to his solo show.

I remember walking in the gallery last Friday and being blown away. The show was amazing. As a techie/engineer-type, to me, his resin-based artwork resembles amazingly clear flat-panel like displays showing the most intricate, detailed patterns and colors. Pure blacks, and bright colors — amazing, just awesome. For even more of David’s work, check out his website at davidepeterson.com.

Georgia Tech among top 10 public universities

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

For the 9th year in a row, Georgia Tech has been ranked in the top 10 public universities.  We’ve moved up to 7th in the U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings.  We’re also now 35th among all universities!

Check out the Press Release from Georgia Tech’s Alumni Association, and the U.S. News and World Report Rankings.

There’s an upcoming College of Computing Alumni event, soon.  Let’s see if we can’t keep going up.

Baxter Street Lofts

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Jodi’s company, Kung Quinn Inc., has been working on an amazing new project in downtown Athens, GA.  Baxter Street Lofts is a mixed-use, residential and retail loft building on Baxter Street.

The spot used to be our family’s restaurant, Hunan’s — an Athens main-stay for good chinese food.  If you lived on campus from, oh say, any where in between 1974 until about 2005, chances are, you had chinese take-out, delivery, or dine-in from Hunan’s.

The project is going fantastic.  The lofts are really shaping up, and Jodi’s attention to detail in everything about them really shows.  We’ve put up the brand new web-site and started a really great marketing campaign.  We’ve already sold a few and have some neat shops and offices coming in soon!

If you’re interested in the project, let Jodi know, or visit the site and fill out the contact form!

Sapporo night at Wasabi Sushi Atlanta

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Benjamin Krause, owner of the fine Wasabi Sushi establishment in Castleberry Hills has texted me to indicate that it is Sapporo night. Now, whether this is an actual function that includes Sapporo sponsored promotions, or if it’s just Ben handing out Saporro, it could be a good night.

Hey maybe they’ll air the special edition (and only edition) of WasabiTV — a DVD Ben and I made of clips we found on the Internet(s) including a fake sushi-documentary, anime, japanese porn, godzilla clips, kung-fu, and magical t-shirt folding.  Oh yes.

Vote for Ted Gore for President

Monday, July 24th, 2006

Well, you can’t actually vote for Ted Gore for president, but what you can do is go check out his submission to the Global Student Animation Awards, and vote for (rate) his entry:  Nike ID Conception in the Audience Choice Award for Motion Design.

Then, one day when he runs for president, vote for him then, too.
